Day school on Edward Burne-Jones

Day school on Edward Burne-Jones and his work in support of St. Philip’s Cathedral Divine Beauty restoration project.

Venue: Birmingham & Midland Institute Date: Saturday 6th April 2019

The Victorian Society is organising a day school to raise awareness of Birmingham St. Philip’s Cathedral fundraising appeal (Divine Beauty) to restore and celebrate Edward Burne-Jones’s stained glass windows. Made by William Morris & Co. these windows represent the very best of Victorian stained glass but at 130 years old their condition is now deteriorating.

All the profit from this day school will be donated to the Appeal.

New Membership Subscription Rates from 1 January 2019

At the Annual General Meeting of the Pre-Raphaelite Society held on 27 October 2018, it was proposed and unanimously agreed, to increase annual membership subscriptions from 1 January 2019. The increase was felt necessary due to increased postal charges, publication production costs and general operating overheads. It has been five years since the last increase and we still believe that in comparison to similar societies, our membership rates offer very good value.

Sad news for the Society

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of our President, The Very Reverend Peter Berry, on Friday 25th May. Peter Berry held a Canon Residentiary at Coventry Cathedral and was Provost of Birmingham Cathedral for 13 years. He founded the Pre-Raphaelite Society on 26th October 1988.
